Ensemble Bash – Family Concert
Saturday 18 January 2020, 3.00-4.00pm
Parish Church of St Peter & St Paul, Tonbridge
Ensemble Bash bring their high-energy interactive family concert to town, featuring music from Ghana, Cuba, Brazil, Senegal, Trinidad … and even the future!
Under-1s free (no tickets required), all other ages £5
A musical world tour ….
You’ll hear talking drums, gourd xylophones and a steel pan. You’ll get to take part in pieces that help to show the timelines of music across the world as the rhythms of Africa were carried across the Atlantic to South America.
You’ll also get to see and hear some of the more weird and wonderful instruments that Ensemble Bash have in their cellars. Have you ever wondered what a donkey’s jawbone sounds like? Or a conch shell? How exactly do you make the noise of a lion roaring?
If you’ve got any energy left, get ready to raise the roof for Metropolis, a piece in which the future of the human race rests in your hands …
Ensemble Bash is renowned for its workshops and family concerts and its pioneering education work has included extensive residencies for Dartington International Summer School, Cheltenham Festival, SPNM’s Sound Inventors, Spitalfields Festival and the Victorian College of the Arts as part of the Melbourne Festival in Australia.
