Solis Ensemble
will present a richly varied evening, pairing classics by Schubert, Bach, and Beethoven with Zoë Martlew’s striking Völuspà and a new work by Luke Styles with poet Jacob Sam‑La Rose. Jacob’s live spoken contributions will shape the concert’s journey, bringing words and music into vivid conversation. Expect colour, contrast, and a compelling blend of storytelling and virtuosity.

Solis Ensemble is a UK-based multidisciplinary collective presenting classical music alongside contemporary works and new commissions. The ensemble brings together some of the finest artists of their disciplines —including principal players from London’s orchestras, award-winning composers, and celebrated poets.

Formed in 2025, Solis is committed to curating programs that pair classical and contemporary repertoire with new artistic perspectives. Through collaborations that include music, poetry, and movement, the ensemble creates performances that are both innovative and grounded in artistic integrity.

With a focus on quality, collaboration and connection, Solis Ensemble performs in both traditional and nontraditional concert venues, offering a dynamic and inclusive approach to live performance.

Jacob Sam-La Rose is a celebrated poet, editor and educator. His work is required reading for an English A’ level syllabus, and has been translated into Portuguese, Latvian, French, and Dutch. Among other appointments, he has served as poet-in-residence at Raffles Institution in Singapore, artistic director for the Spoken Word Education Programme at Goldsmiths UoL, and poetry professor at Guildhall School of Music & Drama. He founded and continues to lead the Barbican Young poets programme. His current projects include research in poetry and generative text.
